“A musician does not equal a music therapist. Do you know why?”

As part of Music Therapy Week 2018, NZ Registered Music Therapist Shari Storie had the opportunity to write for The Big Idea Soapbox, sharing with New Zealanders  some of the differences and reasons why you might consider qualifying to become a NZ Registered Music Therapist. Music Therapy is a relatively new style of therapy in New Zealand, with a lack of awareness being a big obstacle facing the industry in Aotearoa.

“It’s not by chance that Music Therapy requires tertiary-level training, research, registration and regulation to ensure safe, ethical, evidence-based practice. A musician does not equal a Music Therapist.”
