50 Years of Music Therapy in Aotearoa, New Zealand

This year Music Therapy New Zealand is celebrating 50 years of Music Therapy in Aotearoa, New Zealand. 

To honour this significant milestone we are highlighting events, stories and featuring some of the pioneers who were instrumental in the growth of music therapy in NZ. Please keep an eye on our social media channels over the coming months.

Music Therapy NZ Conference 13-15 September

MThNZ Conference 2024: Looking Back Moving Forward

Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington

13, 14 & 15 September 2024

Save the date and come to Wellington to celebrate fifty years of music therapy in Aotearoa/New Zealand. The Anniversary Celebration begins on Friday evening in the Hunter Council Chamber at Victoria University Te Herenga Waka, to celebrate this milestone and also 20 years of the Master of Music Therapy programme.

Music Therapy New Zealand’s two-day hybrid conference is on Saturday and Sunday at Wharewaka Function Centre, on the Wellington waterfront. The programme includes over 50 presenters with international and local speakers. Programme details will be published and early-bird registrations open in May.
