Over 130 students from Te Waka Unua primary school in Christchurch have participated in an introductory course of rhythm4wellbeing: a music and well-being resource for primary schools utilising the power of rhythm, during five days of music therapy week .
Adapted from the evidence based Rhythm2recovery programme rhythm4wellbeing supports the NZ curriculum by providing a real life context for social and emotional learning . Students have enjoyed connecting with other group members , exploring themes such as friendship and courage, and using their drums to learn more about themselves in a fun and motivating way.
PD for teachers has also been a feature of the week.
